ANZAC Week: Whenuapai and Ohakea

East Coast Month

For the month of April we're focussing our attention on the East Coast of New Zealand's North Island. Every week we will be visiting one of the airports in this sunny, stunning region.

ANZAC Week: Whenuapai and Ohakea

This week's East Coast airport is the RNZAF airbase at Ohakea. With ANZAC Day this Thursday, we're basing this week's SNO around the RNZAF's two North Island airbases: Whenuapai, northwest of Auckland, and Ohakea, just west of Palmerston North (and part of VATNZ's East Coast Ohakea Sector).

Pilots should start at either Whenuapai or Ohakea and fly at least one return trip to the other airbase and back.

Flight time each way should be around 45mins, so a return trip should be easy.

Overseas pilots: both airports this week are Maori placenames, but don't be put off: they're easier to pronounce than you might think: FEN-OO-A-PIE and OH-HAH-KEY-A!
