Flight School - ILS Approaches

This week we will be starting the new IFR Flight School, this club will focus on individual aspects of flying IFR in a range of aircraft. The focus will be encouraging pilots that a new to Vatsim or pilots wanting to learn certain skills

For our focus this week we will be looking at the fundamentals of IFR flight and ILS approaches. We will be departing Palmerston North and heading towards Wellington where we will practice two ILS approaches. The ideal aircraft size is a King Air or C208 or if you feel more comfortable in a smaller aircraft like a Cessna 172 you may use that. The largest aircraft that should be used is a A320. The idea is to try something new and learn in the process.

The session will start with a short theory group discussion. Followed by the flight which should take less than 1 hour 30 minutes.

For this event you can expect a Visual Departure then vectors onto the ILS at Wellington (NZWN)
