Wellington and Gisborne

East Coast Month

For the month of April we're focussing our attention on the East Coast of New Zealand's North Island. Every week we will be visiting one of the airports in this sunny, stunning region.

Wellington and Gisborne

This week's East Coast adventure travels the length of the East Coast with flights between Wellington and Gisborne. Another busy regional airport, Gisborne is also one of the few airports in the world to feature a railway line that crosses the main runway. There probably won't be much rail traffic online tonight, but there should be aircraft aplenty as we visit New Zealand's most easterly city.

Pilots should start at either Gisborne or Wellington and fly at least one return trip to the other airport and back.

Flight time each way should be around 45mins, so a return trip should be easy. Along the way you'll overfly three major mountain ranges, one of New Zealand's primary horticultural belts, and the always stunning Pacific coastline.
