1.  Introduction

 

 This Policy will clarify and establish an acceptable standard for conduct for, and outline the operation of the                 

 TeamSpeak 3 Server by the VATNZ Board.

The VATSIM Code of Conduct, VATSIM Code fo Regulations and The VATSIM Oceania Communication and Social Media Policy apply at all times.

 

2.  Structure and Rules

 

    Arrival Lounge:

    The default channel is located here. Use of this area is subject to an acceptable standard of conduct and    

    behaviour.

 

    Public Rooms:

    The Public Rooms are open for anyone to join, however there is an acceptable standard of conduct and                     

    behaviour applicable in these rooms.    

    

    Members should take care to prevent problematic background noise, mic noise or constant inadvertent            

    voice activation detection. Push-to-talk is recommended in these rooms. Members should refrain from  

    swearing and religious blasphemies of any kind.

    Members should conduct themselves in a manner that is not in any way intending to cause offense or                

    disruption.

 

  Staff Rooms:

  The VATNZ Staff Rooms are intended solely for the purpose of authorised staff. Only Staff members will be      

   able to access these rooms, any other members may be brought into these rooms by a staff member for the       

   purpose of conducting staff business.

 

  ATC Operation Rooms:

 When a room in this Area is occupied by one person, permission must be sought from that occupant by means         

 of a poke, private message, or verbally using the "whisper" function; unless the person has a valid, irrefutable      

 reason to join the room (e.g. a person controlling for event ATC and they join a room occupied by other event     

 ATC for coordination, etc.)

 

 Teamspeak is not to be used as the primary means for ATC coordination. All ATC coordination must be  

 performed in Euroscope

 

Event Room:

 Restricted to VATNZ event team members. 

 

   Training Rooms:

   Members should take care to prevent problematic background noise, mic noise or constant inadvertent voice           

   activation detection. Push-to-talk is recommended in this area. With particular regard to the ATC channels,           

   when there are more than two people in any of the rooms, chat should be kept to a minimum. With regard to          

   ATC training channels, access to these rooms are restricted at the discretion of ATC mentors and instructors.       

   Should a training room be occupied by both a mentor, all other persons on the teamspeak should take care not      

   to disturb the people in these rooms. When a room in this Area is occupied by two people, permission must be      

   sought from at least one of the occupants by means of a poke, private message, or verbally using the                     

   "whisper" function; unless the person has a valid, irrefutable reason to join the room.

 

3.  Entry to VATNZ Teamspeak3 Server 

 

    To gain access to the VATNZ TeamSpeak Server you MUST be;  

(a)   An active VATNZ Member 

(b)   Of good character as determined by the VATNZ Board of Directors  

(c)  Guests may be admitted at the discretion of VATNZ Directors 

 

    File Uploads:  (1) File uploads must be small and immediately relevant to online flying. The server has upload     

    limits for individuals and all uploads are logged.

 

 4.  Remedial Measures

 

   If a member is in breach of any of the Rules, the following Remedial Measures will be employed where and as appropriate.

 

   Moving of users who have been set as away, speakers or microphone muted/disabled, for at least five minutes,     

   is at the discretion of the staff.

    

Infractions

(1)The following disciplinary actions have been approved by the VATNZ Board:

 

(a)   Swearing:

 

    First offence: Verbal warning from a VATNZ Staff member

    Second offence: One (1) month ban from VATNZ TeamSpeak server      

    Third offence: Permanent ban from VATNZ TeamSpeak server

 

(b)   Bullying:

 

    First offence: Three (3) month ban from VATNZ TeamSpeak server    

    Second offence: Permanent ban from VATNZ TeamSpeak server

 

(c)   Abuse / Harassment (In any form):

 

    First offence: Three (3) month ban from VATNZ TeamSpeak server    

    Second offence: Permanent ban from VATNZ TeamSpeak server

 

(d)  Inappropriate, obscene or disruptive behaviour as determined by VATNZ staff:

 

    First offence: As determined by VATNZ staff

    Second offence: 12 month ban from VATNZ TeamSpeak server    

    Third offence: Permanent ban from VATNZ TeamSpeak server

 

Notes:

 

    Any VATNZ Staff member may apply the above policies or immediately restrict or ban a user.

    Initially a member may be banned for a maximum of 48 Hours to allow an investigation to proceed

    Permanent bans, once initiated, must be approved by a VATNZ Director within 14 days of the ban in order       

    for it to remain in effect.

    Logging on, or attempting to log on to the VATNZ Teamspeak server whilst banned will result in the       

    original ban being doubled and the day counter reset to zero.

    Members who are victims of any of the infractions listed above when VATNZ Staff members are not                 

    available are strongly encouraged to gather evidence of the incident .

    A list of some of the available methods for gathering evidence include:    

    a) Recording the voice room using the built-in record function in Teamspeak

    b) Screenshots of any text conversations

   c) Using your own computer or Cellphone to record voice.

 

     Members who wish to report unacceptable behaviour should email the VATNZ Division Director with  

    "Teamspeak Complaint" in the subject line.

    

    Final interpretation of any of the above is at the discretion of VATNZ Board members.

 

5.  Staff

 

  Authorised members of the Staff are privileged with a server group which enables them to kick and move users,     

  and to assign normal server groups ("Normal", VATNZ rating badges, etc.).
