Flight club returns!
After the last flight club managed to adventure around both the North and South Island it’s time to go back and remember the best flight club events. Each Wednesday afternoon we will get our GA aircraft out and fly one of the more popular or unique flight club events.
The first one selected was selected because not only did 20+ aircraft attend it included many special moments along the way. First this was the first flight club that Brody Jelleyman created which started a very long adventure through the country side. Secondly it was the event that had the failed group screenshot at the skytower. This was also the day the server cap on the Teamspeak had to be increased.
Flight Club is a great event in which new and experienced pilots fly side by side. It is a great time to learn if you are a new pilot or a chance to try something new if your more experienced. EVERYONE is WELCOME.
This week come join us while we leave the beautiful coastal town of Raglan as we head north through Auckland City over the famous sky tower. Finally we will be landing at Kaipara Flats as you navigate the hilly terrain. Even if you have no experience you can still join us and learn a few things or two on the way and most importantly have a fun time doing what us members enjoy most.
During this flight we will be leaving Raglan and heading roughly north along the west coast past port Waikato, then heading on to Ardmore. At Ardmore we will be following state highway 1 through Auckland City, were we will attempt a group screenshot overhead the skytower. Next we will perform a touch and go at North Shore before arriving at Kaipara Flats

Flight Time
1.5 - 2hrs
Route
- Take off from the sunny town of Raglan (NZRA) and head north and follow the West coast north.
- Turn to follow the Waikato river at Port Waikato before overlfying Pukekohe
- Perform a touch and go at Ardmore (NZAR).
- Then fly east towards Waiheke Island
- Then fly west through Auckland city for the group screenshot
- Fly north towards North Shore (NZNE).
- Perform a touch and go at North Shore (NZNE) aerodrome.
- Fly north up the Whangaparaoa Peninsula then on to Kaipara Flats (NZKF) for a full stop landing.
If you feel like you cannot follow specific landmarks to each waypoint you may track direct between each airport however most pilots will follow the leader.
