Operation: Overload Wellington

This week’s event will take us into windy Wellington for the last time in 2025.

Expect the unexpected from Wellington’s weather and enjoy the views of New Zealand’s capital city alongside aviators and aviatrixes from across our two motu. From smooth Cook Strait crossings to bumpy finals and make sure to keep an ear out for windshear warnings on your way down(or back up).

Wellington’s 2,100 metres of runway may look small, but it is capable of handling everything from the smallest Cessna tucked away on the GA apron up to widebody visitors like the B747SP and C-17. So come fly in any aircraft you like, adding to the challenge and keeping our controllers fully engaged as traffic ebbs and flows through tight airspace.

Our last Operation: Overload in Wellington did 50 movements over 3 hours, so let's see if we can beat that this time!!

With demanding conditions, varied aircraft, and high traffic levels, this overload promises a true test of skill, coordination, and situational awareness for everyone involved.

This event will be rostered, so make sure to apply!
