Events Director

Responsible to:

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the VATNZ Events Team and maintain overall accountability for the planning, scheduling, promotion, and delivery of VATNZ events, ensuring a consistent programme that meets community needs and aligns with divisional objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other VATSIM divisions, external organisations, and relevant internal departments to support collaborative events and ensure appropriate staffing, realism, and operational support.
  • Ensure the effective publication and promotion of events across all appropriate platforms, including maintaining the VATNZ Events section of the website.
  • Monitor event participation, engagement, and outcomes, and report on events and activities within the Division to the VATNZ Board.
  • Identify and implement improvements to event planning, promotion, and execution processes to enhance overall event quality and member engagement.
  • Monitor VATSIM-related changes that may impact VATNZ events or standards, and ensure timely adaptation of local practices as required.
  • Participate in Board-level discussions and planning, including attendance at periodic Board meetings and contribution to division-wide initiatives.
  • Contribute to strategic decision-making, policy review, and the long-term planning of VATNZ events.
  • Carry out any other duties as agreed with the Division Director.

Position Holder Attributes:

  • Be a member of the VATNZ Division for more than 12 months and in good standing
  • Have a good understanding of VATSIM and VATNZ operations, with relevant ATC or operational experience
  • Be comfortable working with others and coordinating across different teams and divisions
  • Be organised and able to manage multiple events and timelines effectively
  • Be a clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal
  • Have experience in organising, supporting, or participating in events (within VATSIM or similar environments)
  • Be able to work well within a voluntary organisation and contribute positively to the wider community
