Hi all,
I wanted to let everyone know that I have made the decision to step down as VATNZ Division Director, with Wednesday 14 October being my final day in the role.
This isn’t a decision I have made lightly. I’ve been involved in divisonal leadership since taking on the Operations Director role in 2020, and VATNZ has been a pretty significant part of my life over the last six years.
Over time, though, the amount of time and energy required of me has reached a point that I no longer consider sustainable. VATSIM is ultimately a hobby, and I’ve reached the point where I want to reclaim some of that time for my own life, interests, and whatever comes next.
I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved over that time and enormously grateful to the people who continue to make this community and hobby what it is.
Cam has agreed to take on the role of Acting Division Director from 14 October while VP APAC works through the process of appointing a replacement.
I’m also not disappearing. I still enjoy VATSIM and still care a great deal about the community, and you’ll continue to see me around. I’ll remain involved with Operations, but in a much more limited capacity, and without the ongoing responsibilities that come with being part of divisional leadership.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the last six years - it has been a hell of a ride.
Tom
